ABOUT CAT

Across the Atlantic, Caterina Sellers grew up amid three brothers and a sister in a highly creative family atmosphere in Westphalia, Germany. Born into a home filled with music of all styles, Cat was surrounded by anything from classical to jazz and blues. Her mother, an accomplished pianist, imprinted within her the idea that music is not only to be listened to, but to be played and celebrated with one’s own voice. From as early an age as six, she was drawn to the guitar and would sneak into any room where one was and play, eventually teaching herself the chords and progressions, a habit which would ultimately lead to a life-long passion.

Submersed in anything and everything having to do with music, Cat absorbed its creation and arrangements, borrowing and learning from anyone who would share their knowledge. During her teenage years, she practiced, grew and honed her craft, hoping one day to make it a career. College brought Caterina to Atlanta, where, studying English and Theology, she launched into a post-graduate program even before receiving her Bachelor’s degree. She obtained her Masters degree with a thesis in Liberal Arts and American Studies. Shortly after entering Emory University someone captured her heart, they returned to Germany and were married. In 1981 she immigrated to the United States, calling Atlanta, Georgia her home. Three beautiful sons became the inspiration to one of her songs: “Three Raw Diamonds."

In 1985, Cat went to work for Delta Airlines. Her ancestry, background and fluency with the language made her an asset to the company which had begun non-stop flights to Germany. Raising three sons, and later suffering the pains of a divorce, all the while jetting back and forth across the Atlantic, was not an easy task. Her guitar, a constant companion, kept her sane, providing the creative outlet for the joys and hurts of life.

In 1994, while still working for Delta, she moved to Rome, Georgia where she began classical training in guitar and also began performing. She continued to enlarge her repertoire, creating poetry and prose which influenced her lyrics. It was during this time that she met local producer and musician Ben McRee who challenged her to focus more acutely on her songwriting and guitar playing.

With many songs to her credit, Caterina is now pursuing her music career with full momentum. Her music seems to materialize out of a waking dream, surreally real, bound to transport you into visions of your own.

With engagements all over Georgia, Tennessee and destinations across “The Pond”, Cat Sellers will be a name to remember. And with a talent such as hers, it won’t be difficult!
